Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas. It was very quiet this year, no visitors. The kids had a great time. Santa was good and now the house is a mess.

This first picture is of Christmas Eve dinner. We usually have the 12 meatless dishes but because there wasn't extra people to eat I just made what our family will eat. We had perogies (potato/cheese, cottage cheese and gluten free), kolach (Ukrainian bread), beet leaf cabbage rolls, jello salad, mushrooms and shrimp.

This second picture is the three boys playing with Christmas toys.

I have also started a picture for my sisters new baby.
This is the chart...

and this is my progress at the end of day 1. I have about 4 days worth of work on it but haven't taken a picture. Maybe if I can manage to clean a bit of the house today I will get more stitching done tonight and post a picture with more progress.

Stiletto SAL

I have started a new blog today. It's a stitch a long for the Stiletto cross stitch charts.

I posted some of the finished charts and one of my wips.
This is my wip of White Roses Stiletto. It's really coming along beautifully. I haven't worked on it for awhile so I'm hoping the SAL will get me going again.
Please check it out and join the fun!

My busy month of November

Amazing how time flies. There is only 24 days left until Christmas. How will I ever be ready?

I've been so busy making perogies for craft sales.

I made 40 dozen potato cheese and lost them all when I forgot to put them back in the freezer. I went to pack them in the cooler to take to the craft sale and found then sitting IN FRONT of the freezer. They had been there all night. 40 dozen thawed bags of goo. So now I have to start all over again for the next craft sale on December 6th.

I also finished a needlecase.

This is on ebay today for the last day. I hope it sells to feed my circle of stitch, sell, buy.
I also joined a Mystery SAL from Chatelaine Designs. I'm very excited but scared at the same time. What if I don't like it? After the group cost $30 and the supplies which I haven't bought yet, I better like it. Most of her designs are wonderful so I'm pretty confident that I'll love it.
I also joined an exchanged group. My first one so this will be tons of fun.

Halloween

Well Halloween went very well. The weather was better than anything I can remember. Last year there was so much snow my two little boys couldn't even walk. This year, not one snowflake in sight. The costumes turned out better than I thought they would.

There is a vampire, witch, bat and spider. Vic's bat costume was the simpliest because I didn't know how long his trick or treating would last.

This is Vic modeling his sisters costume. He's so cute I couldn't resist posting this picture.

Selling on ebay has been going really good. Well except for the non paying complaint :(

I broke down and ordered Mermaid Treasure Box and Toys. I have converted the given thread to Threadworx.

Another hardanger

Wahoo, I've finished another hardanger. This one took me about week and a half. I wasn't sure if I should do the cross stitch flowers but I'm sure glad I did. It's stitched on 32 count waterlily with DMC 524 for the wrapped bars. I want to put it on ebay but it will sure be hard to part with it.

Blog Layouts

Wow! I love it. I love color.
I came across a site that lets you customize your blog outside of the regular blogger limits.
I'm sure I'll be changing it all the time. Soon I will change it to a Halloween theme. I just love this site. Look for the link to change up your blog down my page. It's called The Cutest Blog on the Block.

Halloween costumes

It's that time of the year again to start the Halloween cosutmes. I have very limited sewing skills so it's a big challenge for me not to mess up. This year I will be making a witch, vampire, bat and spider. I was lucky enough to find one pattern that had everything I needed. I will modify one of them into a spider.

This is the starting. The fabric looks great and I hope it still looks great after cutting and sewing.

This is my daughters second piece that is in her rotation. The aida is pink and the thread is DMC 956. She has started the next letter on the same pink aida with DMC 211.

I'm a designer!

Well it's been awhile but I've finally been released. It was such an exciting day yesterday when I could actually see them up for sale. The link is http://www.patternsonline.com/Patterns/List.aspx?DID=177

I have a contract with the most talented artist Elena Feliciano. More of her work can be seen at http://www.ebsqart.com/Artists/cmd_8896_profile_portfolio__1_1_T.htm. I plan on adapting as many as I can to cross stitch charts. I am very greatful that she allows me to do this.

Selling on ebay

I have a new addiction. Selling on ebay. I sell so I can buy more stash hehehe. It's actually a circle of addiction. I sold some of the little houses and this hardanger piece.

And this purple one has two days left on ebay.

I've already ordered a hardanger christmas tree pattern from http://www.123stitch.com/ and it should arrive anyday. I also have a shopping cart waiting for me at http://www.nordicneedle.com/.
I wonder when I'll need an intervention?

Thanksgiving

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. I made a small dinner for the six of us.

It was turkey and his parts, homemade scalloped potatoes, homemade buns, cranberry stuffing and of course gluten free stuffing and corn. My son made the decorations in kindergarden class and the wheat is my regular table center piece.

My daugther has been working on a new piece. Ah, she's only 9 and I have started her on a rotation. Her first piece is the SAL from Papillion, How Does Your Garden Grow. She's made a rather large counting error and I'll have to fix it before she can move on so she started a new project. She is stitching the letters of her name in mono colors. She loves pillows so they will probably be made into small pillows.

This is a picture of it before the error occured. I sent a picture of her progess to Papillion Creations and they included a special mention in their newsletter. I was very proud, as any mother would be.

A few finishes

I really admire and love to look at other stitchers blogs. I'm inspired by the creativity and talent of others. I've made a few posts but I think I'll really get this going to have a place to collect pictures of my stitching. Here are a few cute finishes.
These are really cute freebies from http://www.leschroniquesdefrimousse.over-blog.com/

Second Chart

I have just completed my second chart called Poppy Stiletto.

I also came back from the post office today. Hoffmans wants to see my charts. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they like them and want to pick them up for distribution.

On another note: I heard today that DMC has filed for bankruptcy. Let's hope this doesn't mean the end to our beloved thread.

First Post

Hey Hey,
I just created this blog today, let's see how long I can keep it up.
It's my hope to keep track of my progess in the cross stitch world. As of today I am about to sign a contract with http://www.patternsonline.com/ and Hoffman's has expressed interest in looking at my work.
The first completed model can be seen right here. It is called Bird of Paradise Stiletto and the original art is by the extremely talented Elena Feliciano. She is a wonderful woman that has allowed me to convert her art and share her talent with a whole new audience. This great model was stitched by the very talented Ann B. I am currently working on two models, one called Coral Roses Stiletto and one called Poppy Stiletto.

Thanks for visiting me!
